The fundamental role of the oceans on our planet

The fundamental role of the oceans on our planet

The oceans are the basis of all life on Earth. They play a vital role in providing oxygen for all the planet's inhabitants. Essential to our biosphere, they provide us with food and are sources of many treatments and remedies. In recent decades, they have been severely tested by human overactivity. World Ocean Day celebrates our oceans and raises awareness of the need to protect them. This day is very important to Algologie, a brand of cosmetic skincare products, 100% made in France from natural marine ingredients. That's why we're actively committed to preserving them. The oceans play a fundamental role on our planet, and we'll explain everything to you.

Protecting the seas and oceans means protecting our planet

Why so much energy for ocean preservation? Water is the source of all life on Earth. It regulates climate and temperature, and provides food, medicines and many natural remedies. It is also responsible for climate and water (rainwater, drinking water, etc.). In short, it is the source of everything.

Despite its importance in our lives, over-exploitation in recent decades has led to a deterioration in its coastal waters, its ecosystem and its biodiversity. The main reasons for this are pollution and ocean acidification.

World Ocean Day was established in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. The day is celebrated every year on 8 June, with the aim of raising public awareness of the role played by the oceans in our lives. As well as putting the oceans in the spotlight, it provides an opportunity to explain the various ways in which they can be preserved.

A number of agencies, including the United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea and UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission, have set up various initiatives around the world. They support the World Ocean Network, which, since 2022, has been fighting to bring this day to the attention of the general public.

Algologie's marine cosmetics are committed to

Algologie has been committed to RespectOcean since 2021.

It is an association bringing together players and companies committed to sustainable economic development in favour of protecting and preserving the ocean, as well as coastal areas and their ecosystems.

To go even further and help protect this precious environment, in 2022 Algologie created the Wave Kit to mark World Ocean Day. A duo of moisturisers with our 2 star products and above all a commitment! For each kit purchased, we donated €1 to RespectOcean.

World Ocean Day exists to remind us of the importance of protecting the oceans in the face of intense human activity. Without them, there can be no life on Earth. That's why Algologie is firmly committed to protecting them through an association of men and women taking concrete action to preserve them. Every day, we see these positive effects on our bodies. Through our skincare products containing marine active ingredients, your skin can breathe and your complexion looks fresh and radiant. So it was only natural for us to take part.
